Using Chiropractic & Massage
To Enhance the Quality of Your Child's Future...
Injuries Are Not Only Painful But Can Be Demoralizing ....
In recent years the level of competition in high school athletics has dramatically increased and with this new level of competition has come an increase in the number of injuries. Injuries are not only painful but can be demoralizing causing a negative impact on grades, attitude, health and potential scholarships.

Once an injury has occurred there is a lot we can do to rehabilitate the athlete, but they will most likely be out of the game for at least four to six weeks, which is an eternity for a high school athlete.

Chiropractic Care and Professional Sports
For years chiropractic has been used by college and professional teams to not only treat injuries but to keep athletes at their peak in order to prevent injuries. The following is a list of a few athletes who use Chiropractic: all 32 NFL teams, most NBA and NHL teams, Tiger woods, Michael Jordan, Maurice Jones, Barry Bonds, Joe Montana, Wade Boggs, Mark McGuire, Arnold Schwartzenegger, Charles Barkley, Evander Holyfield, John Smoltz, Trevor Hoffman, Irving Fryar, Fred Funk, Jose Canseco, Dan O’Brien and the U.S. Olympic Team all use chiropractic care.
Chiropractic and Athletic Preformance
Chiropractic has been shown to increase athletic performance and prevent injuries. High school athletes face increasing demands on their bodies along with a developing skeletons, which make them more susceptible to injuries. Chiropractic can help these athletes as they develop by correcting any spinal misalignment and balancing muscle function.

We have helped a number of high school athletes with injuries they have sustained and helped them prevent injuries in the future.

Chiropractic and Amateur Sports
AS AN EFFECTIVE APPROACH to achieving overall wellness and advancing preventive care, chiropractic has gained wide use among professional and amateur sports teams across the country. Three trends point to sports chiropractic as an exceptional way to provide value and enhance care:

A growing number of professional and amateur athletes are seeking new strategies for gaining a competitive edge.

Experts estimate that 90 percent of all world-class athletes use chiropractic care to prevent injuries and increase their performance potential.

All National Football League (NFL) teams rely on DCs in varying capacities, and 77 percent of athletic trainers have referred players to a chiropractor for evaluation or treatment.
Treating Young Athletes With Chiropractic?
More than 30 million children participate in organized sports in the United States, and approximately 775,000 children are treated in hospital emergency rooms for sports-related injuries. According to the Journal of Neurological Science, more sports-related, non-fatal injuries are treated in hospital emergency departments than any other type of unintentional injury. While traditional medicine treats fractures, dislocations, lacerations and damaged tendons and ligaments, many athletes leave the hospital with as much spinal stress as they had prior to care.

Younger athletes are more susceptible to injuries because they have slower reaction times than adults, are less coordinated, and are still growing and developing. Many injuries result from overuse, such as repetitive use syndrome, which comes from placing stress on the musculoskeletal system. It is caused by not using proper techniques or equipment, such as athletic shoes, which makes greater demands on the body with less healing time.
Injury Prevention/Performance Enhancement
We at MJ's and Brady's, treat athletes and are prepared to treat the whole person, and tailor a comprehensive program aimed at injury avoidance. Initial evaluations include not only traditional orthopedic tests, neurological examinations, and supplement physical exam findings with additional diagnostic evaluations.

Numerous studies support the fact that chiropractic care helps athletes achieve an optimal level of performance.

A Canadian research team included chiropractic care in the rehabilitation program of 16 injured female long-distance runners. The runners recovered quickly; seven of them actually scored “personal best” performances while under chiropractic care.

The growing reliance on chiropractic care among American professional sports teams has both raised awareness about the many benefits of chiropractic and helped many DCs apply and improve knowledge of biomechanical injuries and their treatment.

Professional athletes and their coaches have sworn by massage therapy for years, going so far as to keep massage therapists on the payroll indefinitely.

The latest research conducted by scientists from the Buck Institute for Research on Aging at McMaster University in Ontario shows that massage reduces inflammation and promotes the growth of new mitochondria, the energy-producing units in the cells, following a bout of strenuous exercise. What does that mean? It means that massage can help pain relief, build muscles and encourage their recovery as well. Not only does massage feel good on the muscle tissues, it actually is good for them.

Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

How much will it cost to treat my child?
More than likely your insurance would cover the bulk of treatment needed. Even if that's not the case our chiropractic care is extremely affordable and we offer discounted massages for the student.

Do I have to be present for my child's treatment?
If your child is under 18 we do need you available at least for the evaluation so you can sign consent form and see the results of the exam. Based on child's age you may not need to return, tipically 16 and up can come alone.

How long before my child will see any results?
Typically we have found that the youth sports we have worked with in the past depends on their injury and starts seeing results after their third appointment. We have seen improvement in overall performance as quickly as first appointment.

Will the treatment be painful at all?
We pride ourselves to be able to adjust our services based on the individual. With that being said there could be some discomfort depending on the state of the body at the time of treatment.
